Circular chains
Elite track cyclists generate tremendous power and are extremely demanding in terms of equipment. The chain is a key element in the effective application of this power, and a more efficient chain will allow more power to be converted into speed, and significantly speed up the race time.
In 2011, the British cycling team discovered a problem with the chain they had been using and contacted Renold to see if they could find a solution for track cycling. Reynold's rich history and mutual relationship with the University of Bristol was the catalyst for a successful partnership.
Powered by the proven Renold Synergy technology platform, the Renold Velo CT is designed to meet the needs of competitive track and field athletes and single-speed cycling road users.
The Renold Velo CT was used by the British track cycling team at the Rio Olympics to great effect.
The chain features pins and bushings with a special surface treatment for increased efficiency and wear resistance. The side plates are precision shaped and drilled prior to prestressing, resulting in an optimal mechanical interference fit between the plates, pins and bushings. This results in higher strength and fatigue. The plates are nickel-plated prior to assembly to further enhance interference fit and corrosion protection.
To celebrate the anniversary of the invention of the bush roller chain, Renold has launched a limited edition of 138 Velo CT track bike chains for cyclists who want to experience the quality and durability of this champion chain.
