Type W
Permaweld chains typically have a crank link construction. The pins are pressed into the side plates, eliminating unnecessary wear caused by pin movement. Precise punching of the plates, automated machine welding, and bushing-to-side plate assembly ensure high quality and dimensional control. Medium carbon steel is used for pins and plates and can be heat treated to produce greater strength and wear resistance. The bushing is made of carburized carbon steel and can be case hardened.
Type WD
The WD Permaweld e-chain® is equipped with heat-treated pins and formed steel bushings. The shape of the bushing provides maximum conveying capacity, impact resistance, toughness, and higher flexural yield strength than many comparable cast and other welded links.
The precise press-fit of the pins in the side panels and the milling of individual planes on the pin ends prevent unnecessary wear due to pin movement. The pin shaft and side panels are made of medium carbon steel. The bushings are made of carburized grade steel and are case-hardened on heat-treated chains.
Precise punching and assembly procedures ensure dimensional control. The flexibility of the welded construction provides a wider range of connecting links than is typically offered by similar cast chains.
